Surging demand for high‑value residential and specialist dispute work prompts recruitment drive to support Cornwall lead, Scott Harrington

DM Hall, the leading independent firm of Chartered Surveyors, is expanding its presence in Cornwall after advising on more than £100 million worth of property deals in the past year, thereby marking a significant period of growth for the firm since establishing its Truro office.

The surge in demand for its services, particularly for high‑value residential surveys and specialist dispute resolution, has prompted the firm to begin recruiting additional support for Cornwall lead, Scott Harrington.

Scott’s bespoke service for purchasers of high‑value homes has been a major driver behind the growth. Working predominantly on residential properties valued between £750,000 and £5 million, he offers a level of guidance and insight borne of a wealth of knowledge and experience, from the point of inspection and throughout the purchase process.

Many of the properties he inspects are unique coastal residences with complex structures, historical quirks or past alterations that require careful interpretation. His approach often includes reviewing drawings, assessing structural nuances, contacting people who have worked on the property previously and liaising with selling agents to keep things on track.

Alongside residential work, Scott continues to support clients facing complex disputes, including boundary issues, party wall matters and dilapidations at the end of commercial leases.

With decades of experience and having acted in well over a thousand disputes as an expert witness, he is well known for his ability to unlock conflict by addressing its emotional, as well as technical, dimensions. Local solicitors have responded positively to his expertise, increasingly turning to him for technical input that complements their legal casework.

With a growing caseload and rising demand for its specialist offering, DM Hall is now preparing to expand its Cornish team, and is seeking an additional surveyor with experience, enthusiasm and career ambition to work alongside Scott, to help support both the premium residential workload and instructions flowing from solicitors and commercial clients.
