First job: Pony Trekking Instruction over on Islay
First car: VW Polo which was sadly named Wolfie!
What did the start of your professional life look like: Started on the dark side of surveying, the residential side! I have seen sights which will haunt me for years to come, but it was a fantastic learning experience.
Best advice received: You do you (boo) – my life mantra haha!
What do you like most about your job: I love how nothing about my role is repetitive, each day is something different and I have been very fortunate to see so much of Scotland.
And least: When keys don’t work! Nothing more frustrating when you have driven far from the office to find the keys don’t work.
Biggest professional achievement or Biggest personal achievement: Passing my APC. I know, the same thing every surveyor says. The process is so draining, but the feeling of achievement is so worth it!
The repair most worth doing to your property is: If anything is wrong with the roof fix it, even if it’s a small thing – just fix it!
How do you see the current crisis panning out for your sector: Honestly, who really knows, It seems sad to wish your life away, but if I could hit fast forward to after this crisis I would. I am the most optimistic person going, so I would love to say that from the high levels of workload we are doing that it won’t have a long term damaging effect! Falkirk is such a wee bubble of constant-go – so hopefully that will allow for things to remain positive.
How do you switch off: Spending time with my horse, especially at this time of year when weather turns. Nothing nicer that autumn mornings with her.
What do you listen to in the car: Because of all the restrictions, my friends & I can’t see each other as much as we would like, so we voice note each other a lot. So I tend to listen to them!
Which social media sites so you like/prefer: I really only use Instagram
If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing: I mean wouldn’t we all love to live the life of leisure and live out our Patsy Stone dream! However, more than likely, I would have done something far more mundane. When making my uni choices I also applied for business with agricultural studies so probably something relating to that, which I assume would still have me stood out in the cold!
Favourite holiday destination: I love just going over to Islay as much as I can, best place to totally unwind! I really love Italy as well.
What makes you happy: Small things! I take so much joy out of the seasonal change – nothing puts me in a better mood than waking up so see the turning leaves! Pretty much most things make me happy to be honest.
