First job: Delivering papers
First car: Yellow VW lupo
What did the start of your professional life look like: The word ‘professional’ makes me feel uncomfortable as a previous employer often inferred this applied to individuals with certain letters after their name. Every job I have been awarded has taught me professionalism, from delivering papers, to caring for the elderly and years later into the career I have now. To be professional is to be the very best you can be whilst respecting others, helping others and to continue to educate yourself.
Best advice received: Be happy
What do you like most about your job: The people. The Baird Lumsden Team are truly fantastic, highly skilled but more importantly very kind.
And least: The hours. It’s difficult to turn off the phone but that is maybe my own fault!
Biggest professional achievement or Biggest personal achievement: I was pretty pleased with myself when I graduated with First Class Honours but in truth my biggest achievement was teaching my daughter to read and write during lockdown. I once organised a marquee for 2000 floating above the Celtic Football pitch, not a blade of grass was damaged. Those project management skills have held me in good stead!
The repair most worth doing to your property is: Ensuring your showers and baths don’t leak! Check your sealant, your grouting and keep an eye on the floorboards!
How do you see the current crisis panning out for your sector: I believe the value of agricultural land in Scotland is more appreciated now than ever. People have a new respect for homegrown produce and the demand for land will continue to outstrip supply.
How do you switch off: In the garden. I’m a big fan on Monty Don and abide by his weekly instructions!
What do you listen to in the car: Country Music
Which social media sites so you like/prefer: LinkedIn
If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing: I was always meant to do this job, I love rural property and I love meeting people. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
Favourite holiday destination: The Highlands (just as well!)
What makes you happy: My children laughing
