Para-surveyor Jacqueline King, recently celebrated 15 years with DM Hall. Jacqueline took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to kindly respond to a few questions about her career at DM Hall.
Q: How did you join DM Hall?
A: At the age of 21 I decided, or should I say my parents decided, it was time to get a “real job” and in order to gain office experience I applied for an office junior position in our Hamilton office.
Q: How has your career progressed over the years?
A: Having started as the office junior within residential department in 2003 I progressed to office administrator within a year and by 2005 I had been promoted to senior survey administrator. In 2007, I moved to the Commercial Department to a newly created role as a “Para Surveyor” within the Agency Department.
Q: What are your goals for the future and how is DM Hall supporting you to achieve them?
A: I am working towards becoming Associate RICS and through the Agency & Real Estate pathway supported by my supervisor Ian Woods and counsellor Graeme Todd.
Q: What is the best holiday you have been on and why?
A: My partner Ewan and I take turns year about choosing a where we go on holiday and in 2016 it was Ewan’s turn and he choose a motorhome tour of Germany! This was hands down the best holiday, in two weeks we sampled the local beer, the schnitzel, visited fairy-tale castles and Lego land, hired bikes, and popped into France for a day to sample the wine from a few vineyards! An amazing adventure and would highly recommend it to everyone!
Q: Tell us something not many people know about you…
A: I am terrible loser when it comes to board games….
Q: Apart from being in property (of course!), what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
A: To be honest I wanted to be many things growing up but the earliest memory and one that my family often tease me about was that I wanted to be a school cleaner like my gran, as you only worked in the mornings and had the same holidays as teachers!
Q: What’s the best thing about working in this industry?
A: This has to be getting to meet new clients and hear about their grand plans for a building we are marketing and then seeing it come to life.
Thank you Jacqueline for your time, and from all of us at DM Hall, thank you for your hard work over the years!
