Our HR Manager, Isabell Curran, retires at the end of this year after an incredible 25 years at DM Hall.
We grabbed a few minutes with Isabell to find out the best bits during her time at the firm.
From all of us at DM Hall, we thank Isabell for her loyalty and commitment over the years and wish her a fantastic retirement when she leaves us next week.
Q: How long have you worked at DM Hall?
A: I came in September 1993 as a temp for two weeks to enable a member of staff in Land Agency (now Baird Lumsden) to go to America on holiday. I became a permanent member of DM Hall staff in April 1994 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Q: Describe your role at DM Hall?
A: To provide advice and guidance on HR matters; run an efficient admin department with regard to mobile phones, cars etc.
Q: Do you have particular favourite memory/time?
A: They mainly concern times when we were all together as a firm and in particularly our centenary year with the golf at Troon where we had over 1,000 people a day coming through our hospitality tent and events that happened then. Also George Nisbet, Roy Hudghton and their band at Christmas Parties at Heriot Watt.
Q: How has DM Hall changed over the years?
A: It is much larger, more technology based and more regulated.
Q: What has been the best change been?
A: Greater computerisation and easier access to people – even when they are out of the office.
Q: What are your plans for retirement?
A: Have a short period of rest where I can do what I want, when I want and not be ruled by the clock. After that devote time to my family, hobbies, my church and the two charities I am a director of.
