Ten colleagues from across Scotland successfully completed the ascents and descents of the tallest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland over 24 hours
Ten members of the DM Hall’s rural, commercial and residential property teams tackled the demanding national Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend, climbing the peaks to raise funds for the firm’s charity partners.
The beneficiaries are the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RSABI), which provides practical, emotional and financial support to people involved in Scottish agriculture, as well as the firm’s established charity partners, the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Homeless Project Scotland.
The DM Hall team began the challenge in summer evening sunshine at Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales, before tackling Scafell Pike in England and concluding with Ben Nevis in Scotland. Aside from the first 45 minutes of the expedition the group was faced with inclement conditions in the form of gusty wind, low cloud and persistent rain, stereotypically British Summertime weather.
Despite sodden clothing and a distinct lack of any views, the team persisted regardless. A hot meal at the foot of Ben Nevis awaiting them. The team was grateful for the driving and support of Niall Morrison who had only recently qualified following a successful APC.
Donald Yellowley, Rural Partner at DM Hall, said: “Completing the National Three Peaks Challenge was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved. The determination and good humour shown throughout the weekend was remarkable and helped carry us through some very tough moments. It was a fantastic way to connect different departments from across Scotland.
“Most importantly, we have been able to raise significant funds for three charities that make a real difference in people’s lives. As a business with deep roots in Scotland’s rural communities, we are particularly proud to support RSABI and the invaluable work it does for those involved in agriculture, crofting and the wider rural sector.
“We would like to thank everyone who donated, encouraged us and followed our progress. Their support made a huge difference.”
Joining the group was Andrew Sinclair, Perth farmer and trustee of RSABI, who completed the challenge alongside the DM Hall team. He said: “Taking part in the challenge alongside the DM Hall team was both inspiring and hugely rewarding.
“The commitment shown by everyone involved was exceptional and the funds raised will help RSABI continue to provide vital practical, emotional and financial support to people across Scottish agriculture.
“Agriculture can be an incredibly rewarding industry, but it also comes with unique pressures and challenges. The money raised through this effort will help ensure that those who need support can continue to access it whenever they need it.
“On behalf of RSABI, I would like to thank everyone who took part and everyone who donated so generously.”
The Three Peaks Challenge is the latest in a series of fundraising initiatives undertaken by DM Hall staff, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and charities across Scotland.
