Douglas Park Golf Club in Bearsden, Glasgow, is to stage a summer spectacular with its 28th annual charity Pro-Am tournament. The tournament is only a few days away, and DM Hall Chartered Surveyors is pleased to confirm the final line-up of top flight Scottish golf talent.
The high profile golf professionals ready to ply their trade on the fairway include two time winner and veteran of the European Tour, currently holding 7th place in the PGA Order of Merit, Alastair Forsyth. The player everyone will be hoping to beat, however, is the reigning champion and Scottish PGA Order of Merit Leader, professional golfer since 1992, Greig Hutcheon. Greig triumphed last year whilst playing in the DM Hall team and shooting an impressive -4 round of 65.
The popular par 69 course off Milngavie Road, a challenging mix of woodland and parkland, will host teams consisting of one leading PGA professional from Scotland’s Tartan Tour and three amateurs, on greens which have been meticulously prepared to USGA standards.
The title sponsors of the event are one of Scotland’s leading firms of independent chartered surveyors, DM Hall. The tournament takes place on Thursday August 18, and it is hoped will raise substantial funds for the club’s chosen charity, On Call Africa.
This year the tournament and its wealth of professional golfing talent has attracted more than 35 sponsored teams, who will play an 18-hole Stroke Play format and will enjoy some fantastic hospitality in the impressive clubhouse facilities before and after the event.
Alan Gordon, principal commercial partner based in the Glasgow North office of DM Hall, said: “As headline sponsor of this year’s Douglas Park Pro-Am, we are delighted to welcome such a high calibre of professional golfers. It promises to be a great day out for professionals and amateurs alike.
“We are also pleased to welcome a strong line up of sponsors including many of our own clients who I’m sure will enjoy an excellent day for a very worthwhile cause.”
Douglas Park Golf Club captain Brian Thistle said: “The Pro-Am has become something of an institution at the club and this year’s promises to be even bigger and better than ever. We are very grateful for the generous support from DM Hall.”
Other professionals competing in the tournament include:
- Former Scottish PGA captain, Campbell Elliott, of Haggs Castle Golf Club.
- Current PGA Champion, Chris Kelly of Taymouth Castle Estate Golf Club.
- Former European tour player, Jonathan Lomas of Caprington Golf Club.
- Former European Tour Rookie of the Year, Scott Henderson of Kings Links Golf Club.
- Former Scottish Golf Union number 1, Paul O’Hara, sponsored by Ping, Galvin Green.
