DM Hall has further strengthened its fast-growing and highly-regarded commercial team with the appointment of a senior commercial professional to its East Coast-based operation.
It has secured the services of Ross Wilson as Head of Agency (East of Scotland). As a director based in Edinburgh, he will oversee the firm’s activities in Edinburgh, the Borders, the Lothians, Central, Tayside and Fife.
Ross has a wealth of experience representing national and local companies, corporate clients, pension funds and HNWIs. His appointment is the latest significant talent acquisition, following high profile postings in Aberdeen and Inverness.
It illustrates the significant investment that DM Hall is continuing to make in the national development of its commercial offering and the exponential growth the division has achieved in recent years.
Ross, who has practised in both Dundee and Edinburgh since 2003, said: “I am delighted to be joining a team in DM Hall which shares my values and aspirations and always puts the interests of the client first.
“My focus as Head of Agency in the East will be on building and improving the firm’s offering, promoting the strength of its extensive geographical coverage, whilst highlighting its professional pedigree and multi-disciplinary services.”
Michael Court, Partner and Head of East Commercial, said: “This is a very exciting time for the firm’s commercial division and, in a period of dynamic and accelerating growth, it will be very useful to be able to call on the services of someone as eminently qualified as Ross.
“He is vastly experienced in all the diverse aspects of agency work and I am sure that he will be a very valuable addition to the team.”
Ross said that he saw definite reasons for optimism in the market despite the constantly-changing political environment. He said:
“Property continues to outperform other asset classes offering investors strong returns accentuated by historically low interest rates set in early 2009. Commercial property offers investors a tangible asset consistently yielding 5%+ depending on the risk profile with double digit returns readily obtainable within the regions”
“Furthermore, the recent increase in the small business rates relief scheme threshold should increase occupier demand at the lower end of the market and could potentially accelerate rental growth which should hopefully feed the market from the bottom up”
Alan Gordon, Principal Commercial Partner for DM Hall, said: “We are very pleased that we have been able to acquire Ross’s undisputed talents and his remarkable experience.
“His appointment is a welcome part of a bigger picture in our commercial division, which is undergoing unprecedented growth as clients up and down Scotland benefit from the firm’s key assets of integrity, reliability, professionalism and client service.”
