Location
Bonhill is a town located in the Vale of Leven area of West Dunbartonshire region, located on the eastern banks of the River Leven. The town has a population of around 9,000 persons and is located around 3 miles north of Dumbarton, 2 miles south of Balloch at the southern end of Loch Lomond and 20 miles northwest of Glasgow. The A82 lies close to the town and provides access to these locations. The nearest rail link is in Dumbarton, with regular services to Glasgow.
The town has its own primary schools, with secondary and further education facilities in nearby Alexandria and Dumbarton.
Bonhill Quarry is located to the north of the town close to its border with Alexandria and lies to the east of the A813 (Stirling Road) adjacent to the Ladyton and O’Hare residential area.

The site remains in the West Dunbartonshire Council Local Plan as an opportunity for private housing with this capacity.
