Sale of 116 West Regent Street is typical of the continued interest in old office buildings for regeneration in Glasgow city centre
In a positive development for Glasgow’s commercial property market, DM Hall has completed the sale of a landmark property for well in excess of its £2.25 million asking price.
The sale of 116 West Regent Street, a prominent building in the heart of the city centre, concluded following a competitive closing date and strong interest from a diverse pool of investors and developers.
Centrally located between Blythswood Square and the Buchanan Galleries retail and leisure hub, the 34,073 sq.ft. (3166.5 sq.m.) 1980s office building is arranged over six floors and also benefits from a secure indoor car park for 10 vehicles- a rare and valuable amenity in this part of the city. Such buildings are becoming the focus of the regeneration within the city centre.
Claire Hutton, an Associate at DM Hall’s Glasgow office who led the successful marketing campaign, said: “The sale not only reflects the strength and resilience of Glasgow’s commercial property market but also underlines growing confidence in the city’s ongoing regeneration. Many of these traditional office buildings are getting a new life alongside a change of use.
“The purchaser intends to transform the building as part of an exciting redevelopment programme, which is expected to enhance the vibrancy and appeal of the surrounding area.
“We are proud to have secured this successful outcome for our client while supporting the ongoing progress and transformation of the city.”
Situated in what has historically been the commercial heart of Glasgow since the Victorian era, the building remains a key asset in a location that continues to attract interest from a variety of sectors.
