DM Hall, one of Scotland’s leading independent firms of charter surveyors, has chosen two charity partners for 2017 and 2018: Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer Scotland.
The firm, which marks its 120th anniversary this year, promises to be a prolific partner for the two charities: a three year relationship with Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) which has just come to an end, saw big-hearted DM Hall staff raise over £45,000 to provide hospice care for children with life limiting conditions.
Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer Scotland were chosen by staff members from a shortlist drawn up by DM Hall.
Macmillan Cancer Support cares for people living with cancer from diagnosis onwards through treatment and beyond. It provides medical, practical, financial and emotional support through Macmillan healthcare professionals, grants, welfare advice teams, information and support centres as well as a free helpline and website with the aim to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading dementia charity, offering specialist support services, community activities, information and advice at every stage of the dementia journey, from over 60 locations across Scotland.
Eric Curran, DM Hall’s Managing Partner said: “Charitable work runs through the DNA of DM Hall, and I have always been proud of how much we give back to Scotland’s communities and how much money we have raised for deserving causes.
“We look forward to working with Alzheimer Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support and to measuring how we can help both charities improve people’s lives.”
Angela McCormack, Area Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Cancer can strike anyone and we are continually stretched to provide care for all those affected. To have DM Hall raising money to help our efforts is a great boost.”
Claire Du Preez, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Alzheimer Scotland, said: “Everyone with dementia is different, and one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why it’s so important that Alzheimer Scotland offers a range of personalised support services and choices to fit the needs of the individual. We depend on fundraised income to help us deliver this vital work across Scotland. DM Hall is well-known for how much it raises for charities in Scotland, and we are delighted to have been chosen as charity partner for the next two years. Working together, we can help to make sure that no one faces dementia alone.”
