First job: Office Junior First car: Red Vauxhall Astra Mark 3 What did the start of your professional life look like: Photocopying drawings pretty much eight hours per day and making the odd cup of coffee/tea! Best advice received: I have been very fortunate to work under many great individuals throughout my career to date. For a businessperson and property professional who has just seen a typhoon of unprecedented ferocity sweep through her sector, Amanda Cameron appears remarkably sanguine. First job: Builder’s Labourer First car: Ford Capri What did the start of your professional life look like: I was an agency surveyor in Glasgow. A lot of running around trying not to get lost. What do you like most about your job: The variety of properties we get to look at and the more unusual [...]
First job: Apprentice Surveyor with Shepherds in Kirkcaldy. First car: A white Volvo 340. Not my choice!!! Inherited from my predecessor. What did the start of your professional life look like: As an apprentice I got all the run around jobs. Pick up keys, drop off reports to clients,(pre email!!!) arranging surveys. Making tea and picking up the boss’s lunch. Lots of which I still do today. It was a great grounding. Best advice received: Never ask somebody to do something that you wouldn’t do yourself. What do you like most [...]
First job: I started out with GA Property Services as a Valuation Manager and then decided I should get on and use my degree in Building Surveying to get my Professional Qualification. First car: An old Volvo, something safe and a bit bland, which probably helped my insurance costs! My wife didn’t like the car as the previous owner was clearly very safety conscious and had installed a fire extinguisher! What did the start of your professional life look like: I started as an estate agent with GA and decided [...]
