The premises are situated on the East side of the High Street, occupying a prominent, central position within Dunbar.

The East Lothian coastal town of Dunbar lies on the Southern shores of the Firth of Forth, and is accessed principally via the main A1 trunk road route which links Edinburgh to the South of England, with Edinburgh lying approximately twenty eight miles Northwest of the town.

As well as having good road links, the town lies on the main East coast railway line and enjoys frequent direct links with Edinburgh.  The station lies just East of the town centre.

Dunbar remains popular with tourists, day trippers and golfers alike in the traditional busy summer months and, we are advised, has a resident population in the order of 6,000 persons.

The continued upgrading of the A1 trunk road route has led to further housing development in the town. 

The subjects comprise retail premises arranged over the ground floor of a terraced property, which have been extended to the rear to provide the current accommodation.

The main building is of three storey and attic traditional stone construction with a pitched slate roof over and the extension is of single storey design.

Internally, the subjects are arranged to provide the takeaway/sales area within the front section, with the café, kitchen and toilet facilities located to the rear.

The sales area is equipped with two glazed display counters with various cakes, pastries, etc.  A selection of breads and rolls are displayed on shelving behind.  There is a heated glazed display unit for pies, etc and a juice chill.

An archway to the rear of the sales area leads through to the café which is divided into two sections; the front catering for circa 8 covers and the rear circa 24 covers.

The kitchen is fitted and equipped to a modern standard with melanine lined walls and extract ventilation above the cooking area which comprises a double fryer, hot plate, bain marie and a two ring electric cooker.  There are also a number of microwaves in addition to fridges/freezers.  Situated to the rear of the kitchen is a dishwashing area, finished to a similar standard with a double stainless steel sink, washhand basin and dishwasher.

Completing the accommodation are toilet facilities and a cleaner’s cupboard.

Our client has operated the business since 1987, having established a loyal customer base during this time.

Operating as a bakery/takeaway with 32 cover cafe, an appetising selection of reasonably priced, home made hot and cold snacks are available to include various pies, sausage rolls and similar as well as hot and cold filled rolls.  Hot dishes such as lasagne, macaroni, stovies, chips and baked potatoes are also on offer.  Fresh cakes, pastries, scones and breads/rolls complete the menu.
